What makes back glass different from a windshield

Most rear windows are tempered glass, not laminated. Tempered glass is heat-treated so it shatters into small cubes rather than sharp shards, which also means it can't be repaired: any crack means a new panel. Back glass also carries more electrical parts than you might expect:

Common questions

Will my rear defroster work after the back glass is replaced?
